Basic safety precautions should always be followed when using this appliance.

 

SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

Check that the voltage on the rating plate corresponds with that of the local network before connecting the appliance to the mains power supply.

This appliance is not suitable for use by children.

Appliances can be used by persons with reduced sensory and mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge providing they have been given supervision orinstruction concerning the use of the appliance in a safe way and if they understand the hazards involved.

This is not a toy - children should be supervised to ensure they do not play with the appliance. Keep the appliance and its cord out of reach of children. Cleaning and maintenance of the appliance should not be undertaken by children.

If the appliance, power supply cord and plug are malfunctioning or they have been dropped or damaged switch off the appliance and discontinue use immediately.

This appliance contains no user serviceable parts. Repairs should only be undertaken by the manufacturer, its service agent or a similar qualified person.

If the power supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent or a similar qualified person in order to avoid a hazard.

Keep the power supply cord away from sharp edges and parts of the appliance that may become hot during use. Do not allow the power supply cord to overhang the worktop.

Do not use this appliance with an extension lead or multiple socket adaptor.

Do not use this appliance near an open flame or in moist or damp conditions.

Allow sufficient space around the product for ventilation and heat dissipation. Place on a flat, stable, heat resistant surface a minimum distance of 5 to 10 cm from walls and other items.

Do not leave the appliance unattended whilst connected to the mains power supply.

Switch off the mains power supply and remove the plug by hand.

Always disconnect the appliance from the power supply before assembling, disassembling or performing cleaning or maintenance.

Do not immerse the product, power supply cord or plug in water. Care should be taken to avoid spillage on the electrical components, power cord and plug. Do not operate the appliance with wet hands. Do not use any accessories or attachments with the appliance that have not been supplied or recommended by the manufacturer.

Care must be taken not to damage the sealing ring. If damaged discontinue use immediately and do not attempt to repair or replace.

The anti-blocking cover for the pressure relief valve should be kept clean and the pressure limiting exhaust valve should be checked regularly to ensure that it is not blocked.

If the pressure relief exhaust valve releases pressure without user input or the lid begins to leak steam and disconnects the power supply in the first instance. Discontinue use of the product.

 

Caution: Misuse of the appliance could cause injury – do not use the appliance for anything other than its intended use

 

Caution: Hot surface. To avoid injury do not touch the hot or heated surfaces of the Pressure Cooker. The heated surfaces and heating element may contain residual heat and still be hot after use. Allow the Pressure Cooker to cool fully before moving or handling.

Do not overfill the Pressure Cooker past the maximum mark. If the Pressure Cooker is overfilled, boiling water may be ejected.

Boiling Water and Steam can be released from the Pressure Cooker and pressure limiting valve during use which can cause serious injury, scalds and burns. Allow vigorous boiling and steam production to subside before removing the lid from the Pressure Cooker.

Exercise caution when handling the Pressure Cooker and keep hands and face away from the pressure limiting exhaust valve when releasing the pressure.

Do not forcibly open the lid when the safety lock is raised. This means that there is pressure built up inside the pressure cooker which must be released before opening.

Do not place objects on top of, insert objects into, block or otherwise tamper with the pressure limiting exhaust valve. This component is critical to the safe use of the product.

 

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE

Unplug the product from the mains power supply and allow to cool fully before performing any cleaning or maintenance. Ensure all pressure is released from the

Pressure Cooker by pressing the pressure release button before opening the lid.

Remove the Inner Pot from the Pressure Cooker by lifting it out of the main body.

Remove the Water Collection pot by sliding it out from the main body and tip away any water collected inside.

Wash the Inner Pot, Rice Spoon, Measuring Cup and Water Collection pot in hot, soapy water with a small amount of mild detergent. Rinse well and allow to dry naturally.

Wipe the inside of the Pressure Cooker, heating plate and exterior with a damp, wrung out cloth and ensure to remove all the food residue.

Wipe the underside of the lid with a damp, wrung out cloth making sure to remove all food residue particularly around the anti-blocking cover for the pressure relief valve.

Do not use strong detergent, sharp objects, harsh abrasives or scourers to clean the product body and accessories as this could cause damage to the finish. Do not immerse the main unit in water. All parts are not dishwasher safe.

 

STORAGE

Before storing, ensure that the product is cool, clean and dry.

Reassemble all of the parts and place the power cord inside the Inner Pot for safe keeping. Never wrap the cord tightly to avoid causing damage.

Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.

BEFORE FIRST USE

Before use, remove all packaging materials. Check all accessories are present and that the equipment is not damaged. The product should be cleaned according to the instructions in the Cleaning and Maintenance section. The product should be run through an operational cycle before it is used for the first time.

When using the product for the first time a slight odour may be emitted. This is normal and will soon subside.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE

Preparing the Pressure Cooker for use

1. Place the product on a flat, stable and heat resistant surface before use.
2. To open the lid rotate the lid press the Pressure Release Button and rotate the handle clockwise. Lift the lid upwards and away from the main body.
3. Lift out the inner pot from the main body and take it to your ingredients

preparation area.

 

Adding ingredients to the Pressure Cooker

4. Add the ingredients to be cooked to the inner pot. Pour the desired level of water, stock, wine, etc. into the inner pot. Any liquid used should not exceed the maximum or minimum water level shown on the side of the pot. Any foods which expand during cooking such as rice or oats should not be added in quantities exceeding 3/5 of the height of the inner pot: 

5. Ensure the bottom of the Inner Pot and the surface of the Heating Plates are both clean and dry. Place the Inner Pot into the Main Body of the Pressure Cooker and rotate gently to ensure good contact with the Heating Plate.

6. Check the condition of the sealing ring in the lid and place the lid onto the main body of the Pressure Cooker. Hold the lid handle and turn the lid counter clockwise as far as possible to close.

 

Cooking with the Pressure Cooker

7. Insert the connector on the power cord into the socket on the reverse of the Pressure Cooker. Plug in the Pressure Cooker and switch on at the mains power supply. The Pressure Cooker will now be in Standby Mode.

8. Press the “Start” key to turn on the Pressure Cooker and select the cooking function.

10. Press the “Function” key to scroll through the list of functions. The display will show a red indicator light next to the selected function and the cooking time under pressure in minutes will flash to indicate the function has not been set. The preset cooking functions are: Rice, Coarse Grains, Porridge, Beef, Chicken, Bean tendon, Re-heating, Soup and Fast stew.
11. Each cooking function can be modified according to user preference. Press the ‘’Consistency’’ key to scroll cycle through the level of consistency the food can be cooked to. The options are: soft, medium and chewy. To fine tune the pressure cooking time for personal preference press the “Adjustment” key to scroll through the time settings in intervals of 1 minute.
12. A preset timer can be used to delay the start of the cooking process. Press the ‘Preset/Timer’ key to scroll through the list of options in intervals of 10 minutes. A preset timer can be set from 30 minutes to 24 hours.
13. Press the “Start” button to begin the cooking process. The cooking time remaining will be shown on the display and will not begin to decrease until the Pressure Cooker achieves working pressure.
14. When pressure has built up inside the Pressure Cooker the Safety Lock will rise and prevent the lid being opened. The Safety Lock will remain up while the Pressure Cooker is under pressure. The Keep Pressure Icon will show on the display to show the working pressure is being maintained.
15. To cancel the cooking process at any time, press the “Keep Warm/ Cancel” button.
16. The Pressure Cooker will emit 3 beeps to signal the cooking process has completed.16. Once the cooking process has finished the Pressure Cooker will automatically begin Keep Warm mode, display the Keep Warm Icon and show “bb”. The Pressure Cooker will allow the pressure inside the Inner Pot to fall naturally back to ambient while in Keep Warm mode.

17. Before opening the lid press the Pressure Release button to release the pressure inside the Pressure Cooker. Press and hold the Pressure Release button until the Safety Lock drops down to indicate that all pressure has been released from the Pressure Cooker.
18. Once the pressure has been released disconnect the power supply. Then hold down the Pressure Release button, turn the lid clockwise and lift off with the handle.

Keeping food warm with the Pressure Cooker

19. To manually start Keep Warm Mode, press the “Keep Warm/Cancel” Button. Keep Warm mode will activate and the Keep Warm icon will show on the display.

WARNING: If you are cooking food in a large quantity of liquid, ensure that you let the pressure reduce naturally as the Pressure Cooker cools until the Safety Lock lowers and the lid can be removed. If pressure is released in this situation food could be ejected from the Pressure Relief (exhaust valve) as the pressure is released.

NOTE: Use the rice scoop or non-metal utensils to serve from the inner pot. Using metal utensils will scratch the coating of the inner pot and reduce the effectiveness of the inner pot coating.

TROUBLESHOOTING

 

If you encounter any problems with this pressure cooker, please check the following before contacting customer services.

1. If it is difficult to close the lid. The sealing ring may be misplaced. Ensure the sealing ring is correctly placed before trying to close the lid.
2. If it is difficult to open the lid after cooking. The Safety Lock may have become stuck on the push rod. Hold down the Pressure Release button and wiggle the lid side to ride to ensure all pressure is released and the Safety Lock can lower.
3. If the lid of the pot is leaking, the sealing ring may be misplaced or it is worn. Double check the sealing ring is placed correctly and there are no holes or damage.
4. If the float does not rise, there may be too little food and water in the Inner Pot. Ensure there is at least the minimum amount advised in this Instruction Manual for the Safety Lock to rise and pressure to be maintained.
